Job Description: Wound Care Medical Assistant

Position Summary:
The Wound Care Medical Assistant will provide direct patient care support in our specialized wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting and is eager to develop specialized skills in wound care management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist providers with patient evaluations, wound assessments, and procedures such as debridement and dressing changes.

  • Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, ensuring supplies and instruments are available and properly sterilized.

  • Clean and dress wounds under the direction of healthcare providers using appropriate techniques and materials.

  • Accurately document patient information, wound assessments, and treatment details in the clinic's EMR system.

  • Provide patients with clear instructions regarding wound care, dressing changes, and medication application.

  • Assist with hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment preparation and patient monitoring as directed.

  • Manage clinic inventory, ensuring wound care supplies are stocked and organized.

  • Schedule patient appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-up care.

  • Support clinic staff with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a clinical setting; experience in wound care, dermatology, or similar specialties is a plus.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and general computer skills.

  • Enthusiasm to learn and grow within a specialized field.

The APRN will provide high-quality care to patients with chronic and acute wounds, including those requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a specialized field with comprehensive training provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide variety of wounds and related conditions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

  • Perform or assist in procedures such as debridement and wound assessments.

  • Oversee and manage hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
